Rumors have been swirling for a while about Marvel going full force on the TV front with four original shows and a mini-series. Well that is now confirmed, and all the shows are going air on Netflix.

The shows will star Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Four characters who are very much connected in the comics and have been together in and out of teams for years including a recent run of New Avengers.

As for the mini-series, the shows will converge to create The Defenders, which is being described as “a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.”

Each series has a minimum commitment of 13 episodes, and will start off with Daredevil in 2015. Both Marvel and Netflix state that the shows will be very interconnected, thus leading up The Defenders mini-series.

“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” said Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment. “This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.”
