Between the very successful Assassins Creed series, and the highly anticipated Watch Dogs, you could say that Ubisoft is on a role. But is the developer going to use it’s possibly new franchise to shape the older one?

According to Ubisoft that might just be the case. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag designer Jean-Sebastien Decant says they “have to consider the open world much more like a platform that we could sustain for years. I think we’re going toward a gaming place where the open world will be shared with other players. More and more. Socially speaking, but also maybe multiplayer stuff.”

What does that have to with Watch Dogs? Well, “Watch Dogs is kind of showing us the path for the future,” Decant said. “We have to respect our brands. So if we have to go that way with Assassin’s Creed we have to think about how it could fit into Assassin’s Creed.”

So depending on how Watch Dogs is received it could very well influence how the Assassins Creed franchise is going forward.
