Miniature war gaming giant Games Workshop are set to pit their Warhammer 40,000 franchise against the likes of League of Legends and Dota 2 with the recent announcement and release of a teaser trailer for upcoming “multiplayer online battle arena” game Dark Nexus Arena, which is in development by the independent Canadian studio Whitebox Interactive.

The setting for the game is the Dark Eldar arenas of their webway hideout Commorragh, a previously unexplored aspect of Warhammer 40,000 lore that unlike, for example, Blood Bowl has no tabletop precedent.

Dark Nexus Arena is also being advertised as an early access title and sign-ups for this program have been opened on the game’s website with play passes selling for $25. When customers are actually going to be able to play the game or in what state is yet unknown with the early-access release date set only for “early Q2 2015″.

Playable characters classes currently being advertised include fire warrior, stormboy, assault terminator and space marine scout. The game’s website also hints at future characters from a range of factions including Imperial Guard, Adepta Sororitas, Chaos, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necron and Tyranids.
